Pentium 4 EE to hit Monday
Numerous sources are reporting that Intel's Pentium 4 Extreme Edition will be released on Monday. The processor will be available in limited quantities in high-end systems targeted at gamers. With a price tag between $900 and $1000 for the CPU alone, only the rich need apply.
Intel has caught some flak from AMD fanboys for essentially rebranding a server chip to challenge the Athlon FX-51, but since the FX is really just an Opteron, I can't understand what all the fuss is about. Either way, there should be enough fat wallets on either side of the fanboy fence to ensure AMD and Intel sell out of the limited quantities of Athlon FX and Pentium 4 EE chips being produced.
