Dang it! replacetabs doesn't work with 3.5, and Mozilla didn't restore that functionality either. Oh well, I'll have to make do without it until it gets updated. But without a doubt, 3.5 is right fast. Not that it matters a heck of a whole lot.

Have an example of a long page I can test.
Will check it with all 3 browsers. And funny enough when I go back to Hardocp now the cpu usage seems to be at where chrome is on my previous post. When I first checked it was after updating so maybe that factored into the high cpu usage. I was thinking before maybe it was because the other browsers had the site cached, but it doesn't clear your cache when updating it so scratch that idea. |

All the memory b1tching. Give me a break. we're talking a difference of 10-50M on systems with 4+ gigs installed. All the browsers give you incredible functionality for the memory use. At this point people are attempting to find things to whine about.

Just installed Firefox 3.5 at home and it does seem much quicker not quite at chrome's speed but closer.
However, if I browse Hardocp and just l leave the site up it uses alot more Cpu then 3.0.11. With I open the same site on IE8 cpu usage hovers around 10-15% with the flash on the page, with 3.5 Firefox its around 45-50% so using a full core on my dual core machine. Chrome is around 25-35% on the same page. I didn't really notice it until I tried dragging that Window. I'm running a dual monitor setup and when I drag that Firefox window on hardocp over to the second monitor there is noticeable lag. The other two browsers don't show this activity neither did FF 3.0.11 *Update* this is with Adblock Plus disabled with it enabled cpu usages hovers around 10% on that page. |

I have found some benchmarks comparing memory usage in Firefox 3.5 to the latest versions of Chrome, Opera, and Safari, using a script to repeatably open and close the top 150 websites. http://dotnetperls.com/chrome-memory
Firefox 3.5 ends up using much less memory than the other browsers in this tests. |

Wake me up when one can disable the Awesome Bar and go back to FF2 address bar functionality. I know where I want to go. I most definitely do not want a browser to guess what I'm up to.

Still the default browser on my mac only due to the fact that i can have multiple rows of tabs. As soon as Safari or Chrome implements this, i'm switching as FF is still a memory/CPU hog.

On my PC, heavy sites such as Firingsquad remain so slow as to be almost unusable, while Opera 10 dices and slices them as if they were text-only pages.
Can't say I'm impressed with Firefox 3.5. |

Firingsquad website opens at the same speed for me with FF 3.5, so not sure what your issue is there with it.

Been using FF 3.5 for a few minutes and first impression is that TR sure loads noticeably faster than IE.
I set TR as the home page for both IE and FF and toggling between the two from task bar shortcuts is definitely a win for FF. The spellchecker is damn near mandatory for posting here.....where is it in IE? Ran Chrome for a while....yet went back to IE....as for Safari....cough.....puleeze....surely you jest.....that lasted for less than a week and good riddance to it. |

What's the reason for having 20 tabs open for long periods of time? The idea of such clutter drives me nuts. Is it for work? I just don't get it. If you're running low on memory, just close like 10 of them.

I just updated FF, and it took 30 seconds from start download to up and browsing again. That is incredible.

I like it so far. Though I also use Chrome occasionally, and have tried IE, Opera, Safari, lynx, and a few others.
Firefox and Chrome are the overall winners. |

Well so far I've found one annoying bug in Firefox 3.5 -- it does not recognize ICC v4 profiled images. Attempts to display such images display much darker and over saturated.
booo... hisss... They're aware of it... I just hope this gets fixed soon. |

I don't like the idea of this. Now china can imprison 10x the protesters as before, and with the U.S. cyber bullying act, we can too. |

Been using Opera all day. I find I like it quite a bit. Kinda funny how I've been so Firefox positive for so long and was all gungho about the betas.
I don't see why both these browsers can't coexist on the top of people's lists. Wish there was a tool that sync'ed settings and bookmarks between the two. Sometimes I'm all for speed of Opera, and other times I'm all for the extensibility of Firefox. |

Scrolling seems pretty jerky on really long web pages... I've tried all four combinations of auto-scrolling and smooth scrolling on and off, and it's still pretty noticeable. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this.

Like video card benchmarks comparing 198 FPS to 201 FPS, the impending Chrome Vs Firefox3.5 debate is going to be absolutely silly. They are both more than fast enough for even complex JS-based web apps. it's more of a subjective usability issue now. |

I have come to hate Firefox; it just eats memory like there's no end. After a day of use with perhaps 20 tabs open, the system was using almost 2GB of RAM just to keep Firefox alive. And then it would unceremoniously dump me to the desktop.
I switched to IE8 on its release and I've not regretted it. I'll still try Firefox on my work laptop, but damn, they need to make fixing the memory leaks a priority. |

Dude, I have 8GB of RAM in the box, and I keep everything open all the time--why do I have to close tabs because Firefox leaks RAM like the Titanic and then sinks without warning? Firefox didn't use to be this way, and it's unfortunate.
And Opera? People actually use that abomination? Here's a clue for the Opera lovers; if your browser has the same market share as Linux, that should probably tell you something about what people think of it, considering that it's free.
