There are a few good TV-series out there.
First is Babylon 5 for one, that was more of a singular and coherrant story that it built on than I've seen in a long time. Too bad they just about got the plug pulled after season 4, then got the season 5 anyway. Season 5 was abit to lean on the story. 4.5 seasons would have been perfect.

Second one is Firefly. Incredible short stories, while slowly coasting along on the larger issue. I would have loved a couple of extra seasons of that one instead of it being cut short just after a single season.

Third, many Anime series seem to be planned in advance. And if they are successfull, they get a spin-off instead of just going on and on. Just finished the Fullmetal Alchemist which was great and are now in the process of watching Ergo Proxy and GitS:SAC.

"you know", "kinda", "quote on quote", "sort of", "yeah", "aah", stutter
I would expect "aah"s and stutter in a new show but this is the 39th episode.
The "you know" is the most anoying, because it interupts the information and understanding.

Um, yeah I didn't care much for the BSG segment. Haven't seen any BSG before, but idk... most sci-fi TV just feels to generic to me I guess. Your discussion does bring up something that's been a big disturbing trend in TV...

What's the deal with TV writer's making ____ up as you go along? You're a writer for God's sakes!!! Even X-Files is a big offender of this... by the time the last episode came rolling in begging for mercy to be put out its misery, there was ALL sorts of groan-worthy plot devices. Just lazy.

That you guys all gave it 3 out of 5---that's more than half---stars is absurd. Get some standards!! C'mon!!

If a world war III starts I'll be blame EA, as they need some new material for the CoD game line, have they forgot about CoD Vietnam? What no love for Guitar Hero: Metallic??? XD I'm with you on Mass Effect 2, currently the hottest up coming game.

BSG, the first 3 1/2 seasons were very enjoyable. But the last season & a half was subpar, I'm just happy it's over. The Lord of the Rings ending was good enough, as they lost the "plot" a long time ago so I think they did an OK job with the mess they got themselves into. The spiritual undercurrent was always there I'm not surprised they used it as a way to clean up everything, yeah it's weak writing, but I was half expecting Boltar to just wake up with the six beside him saying "I've had a bad dream and you were a cylon", followed by the house blowing up again like the start.

LoL, who just left the room??? (46:00 or so) Everything goes very quite!

ExpressGate? Anything'Gate' is a bad idea! But in all seriousness, I think this is pointless. When you have USB pen drives going for less then $10 it makes more sense to go with a bootable one of those guys. Then all you need is a Linux distro that keeps itself up to date. At least you then get a portable solution.

BSG always sucked; I got more entertainment outta the crappy intro video to EVE Online.

I'm glad IW dropped the CoD moniker! I'm more interested in ArmA 2 than MW2, but not by much. I'm just more of a Bohemia Interactive nerd than an IW fanboy.

CryEngine 3: an engine that is pretty and scales well? Oh my!

The Open Physics stuff is interesting but... I dunno, with so many of these disparate approaches to physics implementation I wonder if it's good for the market in terms of competition or it's just making the space overly complicated. It's probably that it's all just going over my head, which is ok.

I'm with you on the Bioshcok demo, Jordan. I played the demo, didn't even finish it because it didn't appeal to me at all.

I did, however, buy the game on steam when it was reduced to £3.50, so I may play it yet. It does have a meta score of 96, after all.

Edit: Also, Mass Effect is awesome.

The only thing I like about BSG is that it's finally over. Good riddance for a terribly acted and written show that started out okay, and degenerated into 'grey's anatomy and O.C. in space'
