I don't see a pic anywhere. I am guessing though that it looks like a current GX2 type of card.

This card is 480 processors of GPGPU joy.
I don't think anyone needs it for games, really. But for doing rather astounding amounts of computation, it's just going to be pure joy.
Yep, it's a small niche right now, but it's going to explode. I'm very very happy...

I don't get it, 4870x2 is more expensive than 2 4870s by themselves? Did they somehow miss the concept of consumer incentive in their economics departments?

So ok, you can buy 2 4870's for 400$ or you can buy a 4870x2 for 500$ and deal with crossfire not being supported in game titles as a convenient bonus! Not to mention needing 6 and 8 pin connectors on your power supply and being obstructively huge during system building and heat problems.

I don't imagine EITHER dual gpu card being popular even with enthusiasts. The only games that you need insane cards for right now are Crysis and GTA 4 (piece of trash anyway), and somehow paying extra AND dealing with all the "niceties" of a dual gpu card does not seem like a good buy. Especially during a goddamn recession.

A quick search on Newegg shows a handful of Radeon HD 4870 512MB cards selling for $199.99, like this HIS model that also has a $10 mail-in rebate and free shipping. ZipZoomFly offers the same card for the same price with an identical rebate deal, although its other 4870 cards are pricier.

I think this will be a hit if the resulting heat can be utilized for baking.

Though, on second thought, it will probably consume more electricity than a regular oven.
