Integrated audio sounds almost as good as a discrete solution. That is long as if the implementation is not half-arse.

Just a terrabyte hard drive. I keep running out of space, and hard disks are much cheaper than DVDs

I recently won a 42" 1080p LCD from work. That takes one item off my wish list. :-D My SageTV HD Extender looks awesome on it!
I'd like a MacBook Pro but I'd settle for a MacBook. Bigger monitor for my main computer for watching TV in my bedroom (SageTV rocks!). Replacement UPS for my server, dang thing burned out a few weeks ago. Maybe a Blu-ray player to replace my DVD player, but I'm happy watching all my HD stuff through SageTV. |

I need a small MIDI controller. M-Audio KeyRig or Oxygen 8 (preferably the latter, though the former would do fine).
Still haven't bought my Bluetooth mouse, so that's on my list. A PCI SATA card to go into my "new" G4 server. A new MacBook or iMac (can't decide, though I'm leaning towards the iMac). The MIDI controller and the computer are the important things, the mouse isn't THAT important, and the SATA card isn't that important since currently my 500GB SATA drive is in an enclosure and Time Machine isn't up against any sort of wall just yet. |

A 1080p HDTV A terabyte or larger hard drive Windows Server 2003 or better yet, an MSDN subscription A vasectomy - please, god, no more Why not - an HP LP2475w I hope to stay employed through the recession |

A Radeon HD 4850, a fast Core 2 Duo processor, and a 22 inch widescreen monitor would pretty much complete my gaming setup. I'll settle for just the graphics card, though.

That's a good thing to having switched to Apple (iMac, MacBookPro and Mac Pro): you don't basically have any option, everything costs twice more, no video card, no sound cards... I'd love to have two speakers (I'm thinking to Gigaworks, no subwoofer, no 4.1, no 5.1) which are able to be as high as my voice when I'm singing.
Too bad I already have one 23'' and one 22'' monitor, or HP's would be in my list. And too bad Euro plummeted against Dollar, I'm unlikely to spend a fortune (like I did last year) when I'm coming back to Florida this winter. |

The Gigabyte EP45's are using Realtek's top of the line 889 chips, and they do indeed sound better than most discrete audio cards. The Xonar's are one of the few discrete audio cards which sound better, and I want one :).
Edit: doh. Meant as reply to #21. |

A new audio system. Still using an old JBL 5.1 setup from 1999. It won't do anything fancy like DTS-MA, TrueHD, LPCM, or even DD+. Stuck using the plain old Dolby Digital tracks.

running more network cables through the attic isn't something I want to tackle any time soon I haven't tried them with streaming media, but the network-over-powerline adapters are interesting. I've used them in several schools for data monitoring systems. They make a good connection as long as you are in the same power panel! I know some are marketed for A/V use, which probably means they suck at it.

Those Popcorn devices linked in the article are neat, but 10/100 ethernet? I know it's enough for today's HD 1080p audio+video in High Profile but anything beyond that and it would choke. Would it have really been that hard to put GigE in there?
Too bad the WD doesn't look to be wireless or even wired, as far as I can tell. I guess that's another part of the cost reduction but if it had one or the other or both it could replace my Squeezebox if you add a cheap small LCD (and a DAC because the analog out probably isn't great) *and* have video for roughly the same price. Also while running cables might be a PITA I'd rather do that once and do it right than have to transfer content on to an external hard drive, likely via USB or Firewire 400 at best, and tote that around. Composite only does seem lame but hey, that's what brings cost down ;) it's really meant to be used with HDMI imo. |

A new desktop, despite the fact that my 8600GTS and Socket 939 X2 3800+ w/ 1 GB of DDR400 should be fine.

The L2475w may be $649 in the US, but HP is selling it for $789 north of the border. Considering the Dell 2408WFP sells for $699, with regular "sales" dropping the price to $599, I think I'd have to stick with that.

Seems odd and a little too close having Thanksgiving only a month before Christmas, but the Black Friday which follows is said to be as exciting as Boxing Day is here in Canada!
For me, there's not a lot on my wish list this year, I'd probably go for a Blu-Ray player and/or an MP3 player on Boxing Day/week if the price was right. I rarely ever game anymore, so my days of computer upgrades are few and far between now. |

I kinda need a new hard drive for my PS3, a new mouse and a new printer. I'm not entirely sure what I want most of all... Oh, what the hell, I'll just ask for all of it :P

Thinking about aftermarket HS/fan for Q6700 to replace the stock unit, gotta try and keep up with the Core i7's now...
Webcams for distant family members who have cable internet so we can video chat, especially grandparents who don't get to see the grandkids often. Maybe a 500Gb-1Tb HDD. Does my list seem too pedestrian? |

Flash Support for the PSP, and an overall update to the web browser. It's the coolest slow-as-molasses device when it comes to browsing... :(
In all seriousness, I'd love the Hauppauge HD Component-in tuner. Can't remember the model right now and can't be bothered to look it up during my lunch. |

A Phenom X4 20550 (or comparable, and preferably Black Edition), 8 GiB of 1033 MHz DDR2 instead of half the amount of 800 MHz memory (my current setup), probably a better pair of headphones (something from Sennheiser's middle or top tiers instead of my current entry piece, which is also excellent by the way) and possibly a new GeForce to replace my good old 8800 GT, which is still flexing its muscles proudly using my OC preset in many a game.
On the software front, WoW: WotLK, Alan Wake and Duke Nukem Forever (yeah right), as well as Windows 7 as soon as possible (that'll be a late christmas purchase). Regarding my financial situation, over half of the above will be left for dreams if I'm not mistaken. |

The Apple LED 24" screen that has built in microphone, webcam and speakers. For its cost, it's not a bad deal at all.
Secondly, a faster card for my Mac Pro that ISN'T the ATI 3870. If only the EFI firmware flashes for the 48XX series were out! |

I have a short tech wish list.
1. Logitech Z-5500's to replace my dead Klipsch system. 2. SSD for my EeePC 1000H 3. Extra 4870 so I can run Crossfire. I'll more than likely pick up items 1 & 3 myself since it costs less than item 2. No matter what I purchase before the end of the year I have a strong feeling that I'll be running SSD's in both my desktop and laptop this time next year. |
