Core i7 release means one thing:
Fire sale pricing on Penryn, Conroe, Kentsfield, etc. :-) Watch in January, while they're phasing out 775 quad cores, we'll see some ridiculous low prices...can't wait!! |

in new zealand, a similar 920 + p6t kit but with 6gb ocz ddr3-1600 (hopefully overclockable?) goes for about US$ 1200.

3GB isn't enough for such a forward-thinking build. You need 6GB. Still, I guess $900 is a "bargain" for high-end performance. Still, for that much you could get a Core2 Quad setup + a good video card + an HDD. The price/performance doesn't seem like it's there for me just yet (though it's all academic; my days of building boxes are most likely behind me)

Already ordered 3 laptops with crappy SSD, (One of those laptops died within 2 months for a MB replacement,) don't see why not for superior ones from Intel. :)
