Did it have anything to do with selling off half their company to Dubai?

$191 million of the revenue (one-time thing according to Rivet) came from an undisclosed Russian company for selling old fab equipment. The revenue from licensing fees should be significantly smaller from them.

Well, no mather who owns it or what they do, they have managed to stay in two different market that long has been ridiculously dominated by Intel and 3Dfx / Nvidia respectively. And however everybody likes it or it, doesnt matter, because its good for everybody.

In upstate NY they certainly have their fingers crossed
http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=728523&categ... "Is AMD the next big thing?" I love this historical perspective: ...the Burden Iron Works in Troy sold out about $1 million worth of horseshoes annually for four decades starting in the mid-1800s, or about $500 million in today's dollars. Yep, horseshoes, the CPUs of the 19th Century. (And no, I'm not being sarcastic) |

Did I just see the words 'profit' and 'AMD' in the same sentence? Wait, I see some pigs in the air...

Did their Investing Activity in their Statement of Cash Flows reflect the fab spinoff? Or was that pushed until next quarter?

I was absolutely blown away by AMD's results these quarter. If Intel's results were pretty solid... then AMD's are frankly quite impressive (that is of course considering their last few earning transcripts). I'm presonally glad I didn't heed too closely the words of nay-sayers like AMDisDEC. AMD @ $4 was what i thought a great deal... good thing i put my money on it :) GO AMD!!!!!!!! Oh and by the way, the above article doesn't mention this, but AMD actually made a profit this quarter (and not just on an operational level) if you exclude the non-recurring charges. They earned 13 cents/share, or roughly 80mil but this is on a Non-GAAP basis.

Anyone know what the process licensing revenue is? Is this a one time gain or an ongoing quarterly revenue stream?

AMD is a company that most people want to do well. I find myself wishing they had better products. The whole 48xx series of gpus has really made me happy, even though I have a 9600GT. Now if their next cpus can be competitive, I'll be thrilled.
