"Keep in mind here that sound levels are measured on a logarithmic scale; adding ten decibels is equivalent to doubling the sound level."
This is incorrect. It takes an increase of 3dB to double the level of sound. It also takes an increase of about 3dB in order to produce an actual noticeable difference in the level of sound. |

Ten! Cases this big need TEN bays. Here's why:
Cases this size are great for "ghetto" high-capacity servers. Such high-capacity servers benefit greatly from hot-swap cages. Hot-swap cages are mostly available in sizes that take up three 5.25" bays. Therefore, with 10 bays, you could have one optical drive, and three 3-to-5 cages, allowing you a staggering 15 hard drives configured in one or more RAIDs. Still, there are some 2-to-3 cages out there, so you could, in theory, have one optical drive and 13 drives. Or you could just drop the optical drive entirely, and rely on a USB drive to boot your machine should your BIOS make that easy to do. Not too shabby for an $80 case. But I'd gladly pay $90 for a version with just one more bay (or even a half bay for a notebook drive). |

Much better review than last time. Benchmarks even. Impressive. :-) Not as impressive as strapping it to the bottom of your mountain bike and off-roading through the mud, a la a certain memory stick review, but... better than before.
But of course, it wouldn't be a Pachy Post without some complaints: A transparent side panel gives us a peek... at Joshua's short sleeve shirt, remarkably tanned arms for a geek, and a camera apparently rivalling a Bolex in size. And oh yes, the bombed-out wire factory inside the case. Speaking of pics, maybe you could wipe off the fingerprints first? I'm sure the manufacturers would appreciate it. (And, what? Still no cuts, scrapes or blood?) Finally, cat hair and computers don't mix well. I'm really rather surprised you TR would implicitly advocate as much, depicted filter efficacy notwithstanding. C+ |

The metal knockouts in the 5.25" aren't there for structural integrity, at least not primarily. Those are for EMI. Basically the FCC loves knowing that your case is as close to a Faraday cage as they can pressure you into making it, at least when it first ships.
I like the case reviews, but I can recommend a few folks to offer you a photography-of-shiny-things course. Particularly reflections and fingerprints are a concern, and you might even want to set up a packable white room. A few clean white sheets can go a long way to making a semi-pro looking photography area, and they help with lighting too. |

We've updated the graphs in this article. The numbers that were there originally were old numbers taken with a Rosewill PSU, when they should have been new numbers taken with the same Enermax PSU that was used in the Hiper Osiris review. The new numbers are all within 0-2°C or 0-1 dB of the old ones, however, and they don't change the big picture.
Our apologies for the error. |

My older brother just recently put together a new build that used a lighter version of review's chassis.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147033 I was impressed with layout, cabling and accessories that came with the chassis. Not bad for $59 w/o PSU. |

I think there's something wrong with what looks like it should be the first picture on page 3, there's a caption 'A simple, functional, no-fluff steel interior' but the picture is a thin line.

How "heavy" would you rate the door? I have an antec sonota II and the damn door broke within a month. I have yet to own a case that makes the door not a flimsy piece of trash. The door here looks to be a large 1 piece design with sturdier hinges, but hinges are always the weak point.

Looks like a decent case. Especially considering the manufacturer.
Nice review, a little short, but there's really not a whole lot more to say about cases than you are saying already. I am very fond of the increase in case reviews lately, keep em coming! If i might make a suggestion or two for future reviews? Apevia: They have lots, I'm currently using an old X-alien Raidmax: I current'y own a Ninja (P.O.S.) and am curious about the Smilodon. NZXT: Wacky looking cases, but are they functional? I would also like to see more on the Top/Bottom mounted PSU debate. I still don't understand which is better, and why. |

This is a definite contender for my next case and given the price of alternatives I don't see another case beating it for the pick.
I would prefer a windowless case and one without the side vents. Side vents completely defeat the purpose of front dust filtration fer cryin out loud. (3) 120mm fans = teh nice. My current case doesn't have as many drive bays as I'd like. I'd also like my next case to be longer than my current case - long graphics cards and SATA ports close to the edge of the mobo are currently annoyances given the shortness of my Coolermaster Centruion. Not a show stopper though. Nice review. Nice pictures. |

After reading this review I feel like I know what this case is about -- the review was thorough and enjoyably written. Very well done!

I'm not a fan of side windows... but it sounds like Rosewill has a solid product here. Nice to see them taking steps to shake off their "generic junk" image.

Nice mentioning the sharp edges. Not that im after a new case, but its always good to know if one expects to draw blood. But any good build does at some point :P
