180? As in turning around and heading the other way? Normally -- progress being what it is -- that would be a bad thing, but given all the complaints about nVidia's recent driver versions maybe it's the start of something new?

What I want them to do is make it so SLI works on any setup that happens to be able to have 2+ graphics cards. I've been thinking about upgrading to a 4850, but if I can put a 2nd 8800 GTS 320mb in my system, then I'll do that.

I like the idea of a low-end graphics card as a physics accelerator. Unfortunately thanks to Vista we can only install one graphics driver I believe although the reasons are valid for that limitation it would mean being tied to the same GPU maker for your main graphics card.
Release 'physics only' drivers and people will be more likely to buy low-end stuff for that purpose. I don't see NV doing that, AMD is more likely to. |

If this is true, I wish it would be accompanied with Linux drivers of decent quality with decent 2D performance for the GF 8 series. Although an open-source strategy like AMD's would always be better, of course.

Good, now I only need a motherboard with AMD SB750, the latest OverDrive beta that was supposed to come out this week or the next (2.1.2) and this GeForce 180 release voodoo magic. After that, I might still not be able to run Crysis at Very High at 2048x1536, but at least I can run all games up till 2010, and that's a better bargain.
