First off, FF3 totally blows. clicking backspace somehow totally made me lose a carefully thought out post; so this one isn't. anyway....
Why must someone wine and whimper about M$ every time they come up. Dx10 was an architectural change where Dx11 is not; Vista only sucked because people got mad it wasn't XP (nothing more then that). Windows7 is more about the Kernel modifications and powershell alla Server08 then it is about a cash grab Apple would try on your next iPod. OfCourse they're releasing games on Xbox first, and they're by no means the first to do that; we hope their ports actually Function. So.. did MS impliment physics in this one? DirectPhysics? Edit: and poorly coded games (crysis) need not apply as a benchmark imho. |

Thats what we call progress guys. Doesn't mean its there then you have to use it.
Windows 7 will launch far enough perhaps 2010 because 2009 would be beta for them. They should test it long enough so it wont end up like Vista where most people don't like it. |

features like tessellation/displacement, multi-threaded rendering, reminds me of 2900xt day. An even the 4800 series , will have some of this things alright in some ways ,
Windows 7 will bring a new shader SM5. How many dx 10 games are anyway? 2-3 Nvidia will probably launch a dx 11 card next year, in november /december , goes mainstream in 2-3 years. and Crysis will run well on most configurations, but in 2010 Crysis 2 (full DX 11) !! |

You know as much as everyone is hating on m$ in this discussion they probably had legitimate reasons for not back porting DX10. They overhauled the graphical portion of windows. Windows 7 isn't going to be nearly as different from Vista as Vista is from XP so I see no reason why they would withhold it. Also I don't know why people are so mad about a new version coming out. Even before DX10 there were revisions to DX9 happening relatively often. Its not like a developer has to use the new version and not support the old one it just gives them more options. I think its great that m$ is continuing to improve and support DX. There is a reason why almost every game developer for the PC uses it over OpenGL and its not because M$ forces them.

In totally made up news, more users are wondering why Mac OS X still isn't an option for their Dell PCs. Dells ceo said that Linux shit is just as good, all it takes is more thinking then Mac to work it.

I sure hope it's Windows 7 exclusive. Will be the nail in the coffin for Microsoft's monopoly on PC gaming.

I wonder what they mean by multithreaded rendering. thatcould possibly have big implications for multigpu setups

Most games are still being released in DX9. So this seems pointless. Although 10.1 seems pointless.
They must be trying to torpedo the PC gaming industry to try and save their console. |

about time. then we can start taping into those 4 or 8 (HT) cores.
two for the game and two for DX11 and the OS.
tessellation/displacement:
is this important? why not use more triangles or Displacement Mapping?
