Anyone else wonder why the desktop/screen resolution is less than 100% of the screen size ?

Ouch. Anand mentioned that the Eee PC was not up to the task of decoding 1080p video, which makes the Eee much less desirable as a HTPC box for the HDTV in your living room.
If true, that's a damned shame, and might even be the nail in the coffin for the Eee PC, at least for me. |

Any idea if this supports 4gb sodimm's? 8gb plus the new 320gb 7.2k laptop drive would really set this machine off nicely. It should support Aero, I believe.

Shame about the ancient, decrepit-at-launch Intel integrated graphics. The Intel chipsets are really letting Atom down. The integrated cheap-ass nVidia Tigra can do better in this regard.
However the 2GB + 160GB $299 Linux box looks nice for the guest bedroom, or a living room PC in the corner for the children to go online on where you can monitor them whilst watching horror movies on TV. |

On the one hand, laptop-class parts means it will actually be more expensive to upgrade this than a cheapo box from Dell (or one you build yourself).
On the other hand, for PoS/Kiosk and other low-demand usage, not to mention that kitchen PC for your mom, this thing is perfect. |

Also, are those two threads I see in the task-manager? Is that just from hyperthreading or are there two physical cores? |

And if I use CoreAVC+Directshow, it'll even play 720p H.264 Quicktime trailers.
Atom seems...really slow.
