The weapons degrading with use was kind of a drag in STALKER. The rest looked very good in the hands on preview.

Sound's good, but I'm still fickle on any Ubisoft title, especially after some extreme dissapointments from a lot of their previous games.
But maybe this will change my mind. I think Fallout 3 will be better though. : ) |

YAWN!
The FPS genre is dry as Atacama desert. When will developers stop trying to use the same old "Eye candy = gameplay" strategy? It already hit diminishing returns with Doom 3. (Crysis got the worse of it) |

It is because the trend is so darn predictable with FPS genre.
There has not been anything fresh it in for a while. STALKER was more than fresh; it was immersive and pretty original for an admittedly tired genre. Can't wait for Clear Sky. I recently reloaded STALKER on my system and installed the Oblivion Lost 2.0 mod; plays like a totally different game. |

First shooters have been the driving force behind processors / display cards for years.
Crysis is the perfect shooter with freedom, depth and tons of re-playability. Far Cry 2 looks good and well worth the effort. |

That's funny, I just put my first gammer back togeather again with my original K8NE-Deluxe,9800 Pro and 754-3200 Athlon just to play FarCry again, the way it was back in the day (2003). It's still cool after all these years!

Real time radiosity rendering. The new "motion blur" of 2008. I hope it catches on.
The immediate console development shows this engine won't be as strainful as CryEngine 2. |

The thing about graphics that Crytek didn't understand when making Crysis is that daily gamers like to play their games at highest/Near highest settings with AA and AF. With Crysis, only the very rich could accomplish it, and people have already begun to lose interest.
Half-Life 2 & Counter-Strike: Source, on the other hand, have great gameplay but the graphics are aging a bit. But with even mid-graphics cards today you can play CT at very high and crisp settings. As long as people are able to play it at high resolution and with AA and AF people will continue playing CT it until it becomes too aged looking to be immersive.
For me at least, I just need a game to look sharp, with non-muddled textures and it looks good enough for me. Perfect geometries and a volumetric clouds have little influence on me.
