I like how it's x80 and x60. 60>50 & 80>70! Way to one-up ATi!

lol@ complaints about the new naming scheme, ah shut up, you will get used to it. We should be more concerned about performance and technological innovations in the graphics department not naming conventions....

Again Nvidia with the Epic Fail.
Nvidia: Using GTX across the entire line makes it worthless/irrelevant. You ALMOST had it right back in the GeForce 6/7/8 scheme. GeForce (doesn't change, you need this for branding) 6 (major arch, and NO, G92 is not two different arches, so 9600 still == Epic Fail also) 8 (high/main/mid/low/whatever family) 0 (not refresh = 0, refresh = 5) 0 (placeholder to make the number big and impressive) So 6800 = high end. 6850 = high end plus refresh. 6600 = mainstream. 6400 = mass market 'value' line or whatever. 6200 = crappy low end stuffs. Got the idea so far NV? 8800 GTX == 8800 8800 GTS 512 = 8650 8800 GTS 640 = 8600 640MB 8800 GTS 320 = 8600 320MB 8600GT = 8400 And just DUMP THE FREAKING LETTERS ALTOGETHER. Notice no one is really confusing which Core 2 is which?? GOOD naming scheme. Yours? Not so much. Rework it, don't abandon it. |

I put this in the graphics forum too...benchmarks of the HD 4870 vs the 9800 GX2
Shows The 4870 leading by over 20% in Crysis @ 16 x 12 If True very sweet! http://www.dvhardware.net/article26964.html |

I'm no longer interested in speed, since my 8800GT is more than enough for what I do with my computer. Significant image quality improvements and must-have new features are the only things that would make me upgrade sooner than the 2 years I plan to keep this card. "faster" just doesn't turn me on that much anymore.

Both the GTX 280 and the GTX 260 will be based on the next-gen GT200 graphics processor
Now this naming scheme looks simple.... |

Does the launch price of Radeon HD 4870 that is very close to that of 9800 GTX tell us something of its performance?

Cyril,
the GTX 280 is the one with 240 Stream Processors, 1 GB of GDDR3 and a 512 bit memory interface, not the GTX 260. |

I'm pretty excited about these two launches. I hope they live up to the hype.
