I do like it much better than the 700 series but still, why would anyone want this instead of a used ultraportable which is possible to live with on day by day basis? I'll keep my Thinkpad, thank you.

Well I'll wait for the Atom based EeePCs, but strongly suspect that I'll put off any purchase until next year, to see what the effect of competition is, and for the products to mature and get decent battery life. And maybe see how Isaiah performs too.
Part of me thinks the 7" EeePC was enough, if the device hadn't been to large, with that huge border around the screen. 9" is nice, in terms of resolution and near-full-sized keyboard (or the HP's full sized keyboard and high-res display). though, but it's borderline "chuck it in the bag" and it's not so cheap as to make it non-precious. |

I feel myself orphan of the first EEE PC 2G which I considered has a possible cheap alternative to a desktop/notebook for casual computing needs. At $550 (and whatever translates in euros) IMVHO it's an overpriced toy from Asus to the drooling market it created. Good for them both...

I soooo want one of these. It`d be perfect for what I`m looking for. Of course, that would require nearly $600, something I don`t have for spending on a second computer, no matter how cool it is : (

they really need to start offering these with slots for some sort of 3g wireless cards. they could make the wireless cards themselves. they'd really only need to make 2 different kinds. one for GSM networks and one for CDMA.
then you order your EEE and a 3g card that works with your carrier. |
