Well, this pretty well finishes twisting the knife in AMD's explanation for the poor 1Q showing. Nvidia, with graphics and chipsets, makes Money^2; Intel, with CPUs, chipsets, and a new R&D forray into graphics, makes Money^3.

I wonder if Jen-Hsun wrote "Here's why I get paid the big bucks" on a cover sheet and then faxed the release over to Ruiz' private line this morning.

NVidia ends their fiscal year in January so that they can tally up and claim all of the holiday sales as part of the fiscal year. Because this fourth quarter (November, December and January) traditionally includes more than half of their annual revenue, it is extremely important.
