RV770 may have twice the performance of a 2900PRO in 3DMark06? Makes sense. Why? Because the R6xx series has shader power to spare, but it was held back by having only 16 TMUs. Doubling the TMUs would probably near double the performance.

Either way this is all still speculation. We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks =)
