Y'know, we all also hated Windows XP ... well it's true ...
However, SP2 was the big service pack that changed Windows XP entirely to be pwnage .... Let's hope that SP2 for Vista does the same for all those ... ... and god damnit stupid trolls who keep saying Vista sucks ... Stuff actually feels faster ... but some of the blame has to go on to like people who make horrible drivers .... (aka ... ... Creative, geez) |

It'd be nice if software engineers could make *better* software instead of newer software that requires more resources to run properly.

I guess the market for those Eee PC's is bigger than I imaged they would get. Somebody is making some real money on that project huh.
Anyways its nice that they will continue to release Windows XP home until 2010 possibly 2011. Because Vista is an acquired taste. It's just not for everyone at the moment. Not sure if ever will be. I use it at home and work since RTM and don't have any major complaints. You couldn't pay me to go back to XP. Not sure why anyone would want to run a ten year old operating system by then but there may be a market for it. Like there's a market or Windows 98 now, ten years later? People do realize that Windows 7 will be built off of Windows Vista so they might as well skip that version too and continue to use XP until 2015-2020. |

I'm going to laugh when businesses start buying cheaper XP Home instead of XP Pro because that's the only version of XP they can still buy, and it will be supported longer anyway.
Yeah, that will be pretty funny indeed, since you can't attach XP Home systems to a domain... Enough with the XP Forever Fanbois... |

Odd move, but I suspect business had a larger influence on this decision then mainstream buyers.

Cuz they don't require 2gb ram, a 2ghz dual core and a 256mb vid card to simply function?
Yeah, like OSX...oh, wait...OSX does have modern RAM, CPU and GPU requirements, doesn't it? Damn... Oh well. I'll just wait for Windows 7, which will be much better than Vista...even though it's based on the same code as Vista. Wait. Oh, this is so confusing to my fanboi mind. Wii! |

Microsoft is "grappling with how to serve a broader range of PC configurations than Vista does as it designs the next operating system."
Tip: Don't write bloatware. You'd be surprised the wonders that would work with people who have older-but-not-old systems. |

YAY!
I love my XP.... The "improvements" from the Vista SP1 are not improvements at all... |

I was under the impression that they would continue XP Home only, and pre-installed on these computers. OEM and retail copies of XP Pro are dead come June.

Under Microsoft's new end-of-life schedule, Windows XP will continue to be sold with low-cost machines like the Asus Eee PC and Intel's Classmate...at least through June 2010."
I didn't rtfa, but from that all they are extending is sales to low-cost OEM machines. That's not a proper extension. |
