will be interesting to see some real competition in the CPU zone .BTW if amd dies, NV will give Intel serious fight, and the consumers will buy great products :)) or platforms

If Via is bought by Nvidia, would Nvidia retain the x86 license? (e.g. if IBM/Samsung/whomever bought AMD, it wouldn't be able to retain the license - at least without a lot of renegotiation with Intel)

...or even P3 killers.. :) Nice power usage tho!
As I said the other day, it will be interesting to find out how well Isaiah deals with Intel Atom. |

I've found that VIA's EPIA boards have a tremendous boost in gaming performance when paired with even the lowest-end Nvidia graphics card.
http://www.techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=546936#p546936 So, even if the next procs out of VIA aren't Core2 killers, it would still give Nvidia SOMETHING with which to pair. I should really go back and revisit those results, now that the SN-series EPIAs have brought PCI-E to the table. hmm! |

Nvidia is looking at AMD and Intel is is worrying about NOT being able to deliver a "complete solution" to OEMs. Nvidia is 100% lacking an x86 chip and it would take them ... a while to build one (Intel is lacking a good GPU, they started last year to deliver by 2009).
Buying VIA makes sense if they quickly want to take the x86 chip line of VIA and expand on them. Does Nvidia want to get into the ring with the 800lb Gorilla of Intel and the 700 Gorilla wannabe AMD? |
