780G is cool I wonder if I can combine it with 3870 GPU or the upcoming ATI 4000 series because I am planning to build 45nm Phenom with it.

I would not expect much from this upgrade. Lets wait and see how 45nm Phenom performs with RV770

I always go AMD for a cheap office PC build. The 4200x2, plus an 6100 motherboard nVidia chip, is a winner in price/performance ratio.

This just in: AMD moves up schedule for all bad news to 2007 and pushes back schedule for all good news to 2008.

Edit - on a more serious note, I'm actually considering something I thought I never would - a tri-core CPU. If cheap enough and fast enough and TLB-B free it would be a nice drop in upgrade to help me churn through all 20 hours of home video and counting that I have to edit and put to disc. Course, I'm not really going to get into that project until June when I finish school, and by then the landscape will have inevitably changed. If a quad is cheap enough by then ($150) I'll certainly go for a quad since video encoding will make use of it.

B3 stepping is approximately 10% faster than B2 stepping. I think this is not enought to compete C2D performance which is atleast 17% faster than B2 stepping. Price would be the good battle then.

let's hope the price will be competitive with Intel counterpart :)

Makes me wonder when we're going to see some of those higher bins show up since they can produce the 2.5Ghz B3s in bulk. They should be able to get at least 2.7Ghz out of B3 as it matures through the summer if there are not any major issues.

AMD is moving up the launch of the R700 GPU chipets and the B3s. This is great news. Even 45nm will come sooner than later. Its good to see they're capable of getting back on track. Unfortunately we have to wait for 45nm to see clock speed improvements and overclocking ability most likely.

consolidating manufacturing and taking advantage of the new stepping..... while interesting and I suspect the dual cores may get a speed boost if the L3 cache remains the same it will still all depend on price.

p.s. they'd best find some additional mhz headroom while dropping heat and power..
