Soon Intel will launch their new Core 2 Duron and AMD will release the X286

Sigh, marketing must be a bunch of mental patients.

Bah! Bring on the g100 already or whatever the 9800gtx was meant to be but will now be called something even more ridiculous like the 10800gtx... wtf?!

If only amd/ati posed a significant threat... then nvidia and ati/amd wouldn't be stumbling around claiming these cards are new... the 3000's are just 2000's done better, as are the 9000's just better 8000's... no significant changes as far as i'm concerned (esp. if you compared with 8800gtx vs. 7800gtx vs. 6800ultra) - (the 9800 sounds more like the 8900gtx..........)

Much confusion and naming/badging milking to come.

Any bluray support? 1080p still requires hefty horsepower. would be nice to play at 10-20% cpu usage.

so we have a 9800 (nv) and a 4600 (ati/amd) launching in the next few months. the circle is complete.

So Nvidia is milking the G92 for all it's worth....

That doesn't exactly make me very happy. How are they going to cool the GTX without the sound of the cooler resembling a jet taking off 5 feet away.

I guess there really isn't much demand for performance DX10 parts or 'the players' would be inclined to compete more heavily in that space. Minor revisions aside, both ATI and NVidia are still pushing 1st generation solutions.

under the current nomenclature, is a 9800GTX supposed to outperform a 9800GX2, or is a the GX2 to be the ultra high end part for the 9x generation?
Bah, unless they can get crysis working better under SLI, it looks like we are still stuck with 40 fps at the high high end. :(

Hmm, I will assume that April really means June because of "delays". Sigh.

So, does anyone know when we'll actually get a 'next-gen' card? It seems like their prolonging the G80 architecture for as long as they can (since G92 is simply a slightly modified derivative)...are they having troubles with designing something new?
