I don't mind the time it takes for AMD to get it right - Core2Duo has serious flaws for example, and I for one will never willingly use Intel after what they did to OLPC ...

AMD has always been a year behind INTC in process shrinks. If 45nm product hit's the streets in Q4, it will be right on time as far as I'm concerned.
They're ramping 45nm now, but shipments for revenue won't occur until 2H'08, which could easily mean Q4. I don't see any conflict in what Dirk and Hector have said. |

Obviously, if Dirk is contradicting Hector, he's vieing for Hector's job in making it AMD's 45nm process look slow.

On the good news front (of which there's been precious little for AMD) DigiTimes (citing "souces" at motherboard makers) is reporting that the 45nm processors will have "greatly increased" core frequencies, lower power, and larger caches
http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20080201PD211.html However (lest you think I've gone all PlusCard), that's second half of the year assuming they make their dates. I'm still from Missouri on all of this. |

Is anyone even taking them seriously anymore? I know Intel isn't.
Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of AMD's hardware, but fanboyism will only keep your customers around for so long. Especially when other, better, hardware is available for roughly the same price! I really hope they can get back on track, but it doesn't look likely. |

No more doubt then! After almost 10 years of AMD inside, it will be Intel inside again.

Delays? What isn't new with AMD, haha. I do like how they don't delay any longer with ATI products.

Really now, the second half of this year at best is waaaaay too late and doesn't give AMD much reason to keep up the cocky attitude. Isn't this marketing 101 ? You drop behind the competition, the least you can do is take some protective measures (like lowering the prices of the entire range, I mean not sell them for 1 $ a piece and go bankrupt, but at least acknowledge the difference and sell it cheaper than the competition).
