I would have no problem buying a Phenom. But I would like to know when the issue is resolved, and that I get one without it.

$200 price difference between the Phenom and the X2 5000+? Is that a bit too much?

Even if Gateway is not offering any Intel quad-core-based systems in U.S. retail at this time, Gateway representatives informed us that the company has no intentions of dropping Intel’s processors in its retail systems. "While the mix shifts from quarter to quarter based on price, performance, availability and other factors, we typically offer a mix of both AMD and Intel processors, and we’ll continue to do so moving forward. In fact, we will be announcing an Intel-based retail desktop within a few weeks, and our Direct line remains 100% Intel-based," said spokesperson Ruth Rosene. |
