Ok, so who then lost the 7.1% share?

Quote "Compared to last year, AMD seems to have largely held its ground (its Q4 06 share was 23%), while Nvidia's share increased 3.4 points and Intel's went up 3.7 points."

AMD held share
nVidia gained 3.4%
Intel gained 3.7%

Come on someone must have lost 7.1%. Is there a unknown 4th player or are these numbers wrong.

I had no idea Intel chips were such a huge part of the video card market. I thought almost everyone bought separate video cards.

Is it possible that a significant part of the Intel market share overlaps with that of Nvidia and AMD? People might have both in their computers, but only using the non-integrated ones?

The most interesting statistic has not been published.

Which of these 3 companies was the most (net) profitable per dollar of GPU sales? This is vital decision-making component for the companies involved as to whether they continue or expand their GPU business... especially in the case of AMD. With AMDs current financial woes, the GPU business, the chipset business and the CPU business all vie for the same pot of BORROWED money. If other components of AMD, such as the CPU business return better net profits, then AMD has no choice but to focus on that business in the short-term to bring their balance-sheet back into the black and pay off their many creditors.
