So twice the testicle cooking power of a standard laptop?

This is clearly a machine for the corporate guy who's IT department does not ask questions when you submit a purchase order.

Dual Mobile 8800M's in SLI have been available since early January. The Alienware m15-x came out less than two weeks ago while alternatives from Evesham Technologies and Vigor gaming have been distributing earlier than that (Evesham's Zieo NX680-HDX has been shipping since last year) 1. The Alienware m17-x is scheduled to arrive in a few weeks.

The main concern is battery life and cooling as there is no point having a computer that you can move around but you need a power point everywhere you go.Hopefully the advance with silicon nanowires in batteries can solve this problem and they are estimated to provide 10 times longer power so SLI notebooks that are actually notebooks and not portable desktops could be feasible.

I don't know about you but a laptop that can play for 10 hours on battery with SLI graphics cards sound pretty sweet.

Bah, Apple should put two of these slots inside its iMac and let people have SLI in an integrated home computer. Well, that's wishful thinking, however Dell or Gateway might offer this in their iMac competitors ...

And seriously, this is about the best place for this technology.

I don't get it, WHY can't we get these kind of options in a laptop that weighs less than a car?

I mean these kind of GPUs (just one, not SLI) would fit just fine inside my current 5 LB / $1000 machine. I just hate how all laptops are always lopsided CPU/GPU wise.

This isn't the first time they've done notebook SLI.. I can't help thinking that, after having owned a fairly expensive laptop, going for a performance laptop is a mistake, though.

#6,
I prefer to refer to it as a sauna for your little swimmers.
ROTFLMAO
#7,
Myself, I prefer ultraportables, and don't mind integrated graphics.
That's why the Eee PC is a breath of fresh air in a world of SLI nonsense.

Such a machine might be cool if all you do is hop from one LAN-party to another, but otherwise I can't see the merit..

So duel 8800m's are on the way...but what about just a laptop with a stand alone 8800m?
