DO NOT ORDER FROM ZIPZOOMFLY.COM. They're website says they are in stock. And their order status says product shipped. Yet, I got a back order slip in the box with my other parts received...

Mine is coming tomorrow! First new system I've built in 5 freakin' years. It's replacing a P4 Northwood core 2.4C (with dual-channel DDR-400... the last decent P4's made before the Prescott debacle). I'm totally pumped, plus the motherboard is an X38 so after Nehalem shows up and the Yorkfields get cheap I'll be able to get a nice quad for overclocking!!!

BTW I got mine from Tankguys and Newegg had them available for shipping on Tuesday. Not every site has them yet, I ordered almost everything else from TigerDirect (due to sales tax in Tennessee on Newegg gear) and Tiger still doesn't have them in stock.

Where's the quad for $150?

30 watt peak load power consumptions is sweet though. These chips should be in laptops.

it'll push my upgrade cycle back a year but my last one (xp 2600+) has lasted me ~3 years now
must admit though i don't do as much gaming as i used to

I hope we're going to see a Tech Report rundown of these new CPUs... I know the Xbitlabs article has some numbers, but I trust you guys a bit more.

That's tempting. I want the quad goodness, but that's a really nice price to replace an e6600. Lower thermals, more cache, headroom galore.

Wow!!! 3Ghz, 6Mb Cache for $224!!

Nice, very nice. I may replace my E6600 with one of these.

No, E8400 is not equivalent to E6850 because according to this review, E8400 was performing better in most cases

Apparently it's only the quads that are on hold...
