As long as Asus keeps the current form factor for the larger screens I will probably grab one of them. Higher resolution would be nice once it awhile but the current one is working pretty well for me.

I imagine Asus is trying to negotiate a price break and Microsoft is trying to figure out a way to categorize the machine so that creating a price tier for it (and others like it) doesn't end up simply lowering the price for XP all around. Which actually wouldn't be a problem for them if Vista was a enough of a desirable upgrade over XP that a cheap XP wouldn't cannibalize sales (which it is already doing priced equally).
I wonder if they've tried putting XP Embedded on this thing? It's cheaper for OEMs/resellers than regular XP, though it does have some other issues. |
