Not everyone plays with 4xAA. The higher the res the less need for it. on my 22` Display I usually only use 2xAA.
I think its pointless playing at 1920x1200 with 4XAA, granted some games still need it but most don't at that high a resolution. |

I ordered my 3870 yesterday afternoon here for $214 plus tax & shipping:
http://www.bestbuy.com/ However, as you can see, just this morning I see that they are sold out of them, again...;) Hopefully, my order was among the last processed for this particular batch. I should get my tracking # email today--provided BB's actually had them in stock as they said they did...;) Edit: Just got my confirmation email. Card is on its way. |

Gee Guys,
Why compare red unobtanium to green unobtanium, whether it is price or performance? I have been trying to snag 2 8800 GTs since the day they were launched and it has been a long time since I have bought an nVidia based graphics card, but I watched the price escalate to the point I didn't even register an "auto notify" on NewEgg.com. When the 3870 was launched I didn't act quick enough, but for a long while the price held steady, so I did register an "auto notify" for the ATI part. Last Wednesday I snagged 2 3870s from NewEgg at the $219 suggested list. But I just checked and NewEgg has run up for the once again unobtainable (bad NewEgg<g>). But before I get flamed for not waiting for the "superior" product, gaming is secondary to me. I agree nVidia on the whole still rules the roost here. What is more important to me is ATI's long term advantage in both standard def and high def video. OTOH this website has an interesting comparison of the 8800GT in SLI against the 3870 in CrossFire: http://en.expreview.com/?p=53 Seems, ATI has some game in this mode (terrible pun intended). john |

229$ ? The 8800GT (when the price gouging finishes) will be 229$ and it's faster?
What's the point. Specially with Dell selling that MSI OC edition one as low as 208. ATI's new card needs to be 179$ or less to be interesting. |

I gotta say, I feel pretty good about nabbing an 8800GT 512 for less than the price of the HD3870.

Paid $239.95 for my HD 3870. Canadian, on release day. Took 5 days to get it. If they can out preform that, I'm sure people will be happy.

I too just bought one of these MSI 8800GT, I've been getting incredible deals on my next "Econobox". I'm not really into gaming but it is starting to look like that is what it is going to be.
Good luck to all with your shopping for good deals. |

Well, at least there's some good news for AMD. Dollars in their coffers can't hurt at this point. And it's actually a decent product.

wait what? AMD is going to raise the price?
according to all the fanboys AMD can do no evil. the price increase must be the board makers doing.. or possibly newEgg. at any rate, I'm still waiting for a card that can handle Crysis at 1920x1200.. and dont expect to see it till next spring at the soonest. |

and whoever delivers the first card that can do it < 500 will have my cash. :) I'm still pulling for ATI/AMD because I've had good luck with all their cards in the past. Only tried NVidia once.. and it was ok.. but I favor good ole ATI.. if they can just get something out that performs about 2x or 3x the RV670 at no more than double the price
