I like wide screens and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a resolution walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a widescreen thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that screen was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that widescreen you got makes me feel so ****
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' small screens are the thing
Take the average nerd geek and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your screen got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
boost that healthy widescreen !
TR's got back!

Is it me, or is the font size bigger? Seems kinda pointless to have more space if that space is negated by larger letters.

The important thing here is that you are giving us options while maintaining control over how you want your website displayed. Thank you! Just as websites must consider 1024x768 they should now be considering how to display content for those of us who have wide screen displays.

My browser window is very wide so that I can display the majority of my bookmarks in the bookmarks bar as well as the majority of the tabbed windows that I have open.

On a side note I would like to see dual page display in a browser window implemented in all browsers - http://www.flickr.com/photos/iainb/162799808/.

Nice improvement however:

1. Flexible width page would be even better. You can't expect all you readship (except us addicts, reading impatiently every single bit on TR ;-) ) to look for a button to change the witdh. Most of them will not realize that funtion at all. It a small thing of course, but you want your site be as friendly as possible, right ;-)

2. I still miss old TR. :(

I like having Hot Forum Threads back on top, but I rarely browse fullscreen with a 1680x1050 display and 1280 pixels is a bit wide if I want to have any other windows accessible at the same time as the browser so I'm not sure if I'll actually use the wider layout or not. It's nice to have the option at least and makes the page feel much less constricted as far as content is concerned. ie. 3/4 of the page width is content vs 2/3rds with the narrow layout.

Awesome addition, makes reading TR on the new 22" LCD much more enjoyable, yet another reason I continue to be a TR member.

It still isn't wide enough for 24" monitors but it's an improvement.

Thanks for picking up the fact that it easier to read when you minimize side to side scanning.

Since 16:10 aspect monitors showed up on the scene, there has been a constant chorus of people asking for full width web pages. Which has lead to borderline unreadable text scanning side to side.

Kudos to TR folks for giving a wider choice but still taking human factors into account.

now... just convert 'latest news' to the same style as feature articles (without the giant one at the top) and move latest blog post into the right hand side with shack news and it'll look much better
then finally move comments out of an iframe and it'll all be done

The scrolly news page is a bit sparse with the wide layout. And am I the only one who has to wait at least a few seconds for the comments to load?

This is awesome! Fits my 1400x900 res screen nicely w/ Sidebar.

But as mentioned below, is the font now bigger?

Thank you for adding the option! It looks great for me, even if I'm only running at 1152x864 on my clunker 17inch CRT here at home.

I'm sure it'll look great on my work monitor!
