The color change doesn't seem to work with Safari on OS X.

Gah! Please make the article text, posts and especially the post editor box use the same font. When I zoom the article font {ctrl ++} for reading, the posts become too large and text in this post editor box is too large to edit.

Otherwise, looking good.

This RETRO news look is fantastic, for me a perfect blend of the old with the new.

I do have one question though, will any new article appear in the NEWS?

Because at the moment there is one section at the top for LATEST FEATURE ARTICLE, but there doesn't appear to be anyway to find what was the previous feature article.

Actually is there anyway to automatically make the "front page" of the new TR switch to the NEWS view that the link in this blog provides for?

Once I am at the TR Homepage, I can't see how to make it so.

All of a sudden I'm getting a log-in dialog at the main page. It looks like

is the offender.

Or am I the only person seeing this?

What used to be a single easy to read page is now 3 ugly columns. 1 of them being ads...I have 1680x1050 pixels and the articles now cram into about 400 pixels wide. I've got good eyesight, but this is horrible. I stopped reading HardOCP a couple years ago - but at least the site is still legible.

PLEASE, PLEASE use the whole width of the browser window! I don't find "your" background to be worth half of the window.

I hope I come across other stuff that does look better.

You've managed to do the two most important things in this transition: force people to use it, and listen to their feedback when it comes.

i congratulate you guys on a successful upgrade. :)

And i find it pretty interresting that every time i visit the front page, especially when i click the TR logo, i get a new major article as the main piece. And in some cases one of the "other" mains gets shoved down to the column, and other cases the main piece is a news article.

Little Bug: The forums does not follow the colour scheme options.

In firefox I get the following error

style_toggle is not defined
onclick(click clientX=0, clientY=0)

In IE6 I get

Line: 79
Char: 1
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0

Looking great so far. The darker blue is much appreciated, and the revolving news stories adds a touch of class. Of course, I've already read them, but still. You guys are all doing a great job.

The new site is looking great, Scott. I'm one of the old farts who like the dark blue with white text. Thanks for including the option!

Very nice! How many websites would take the time to change the look simply based on reader feedback? Very few methinks.

All I can say is thank god. I did not like where the news was located on the new layout...or the white color scheme. Thanks for remembering the rest of us!

There's just something about that blue background that I find easier on my old eyes. Thanks for keeping that option. I also like how the lead story rotates when I click on Tech Report in my favorites list. I've never seen that feature before, and I'm not sure it's been mentioned. Finally, I like having the "Latest News Stories" a hot button. All in all, it's shaped up really nice IMHO.

I was wondering why the headings ("Latest news stories" etc) weren't links -- I kept clicking on them. Now that you have the News heading linking to the "expanded" news page, why not extend that to "Latest blog posts" and as well? "Latest blog posts" could link to a page with all the blogs (sorted by post date, which would be distinct from the current "catagorized" blog page) and "Hot forum threads" could display a complete list of "hottest" threads (rather than just the top 8) sorted by latest update or whatever else might define "hot" (views?).

One thing that I just noticed is that there doesn't seem to be a poll anywhere on either the new site or the throwback site. Are there going to be polls on the new site? Did they get lost in the transition? Are they hidden away somewhere? Did they get eaten by a forum troll? Am I going to ask another stupid question?

Still, you may want to bookmark this page if you prefer to land there first thing.

Which is what I did. It looks like the old TR yet I can still manage to find all the sections that I will read here as well. It was a shock at first but I'm slowly getting used the the new look.

Keep up the good work.
