It is a profit, but hardly a large one for the discrete GPU market. I suspect it because the market is running slow. It is due to three primary factors.

1.) 8xxx and 2xxx have too many software headaches and their mid to value range is woefully inadequate.

2.) The uncertainty of Vista and DX10 makes it difficult for enthusiast to adopt the new generation.

3.) The previous generation is just too darn good for its overall value and the next generation offers very little unless you are willing to spend the big $$$$$.

I wish Nvidia would utilize some of that profit to hire more driver developers. They really need to polish up their drivers to unlock the potential of their solid high-end hardware.

Their 8800 series hit the market way before ATI/AMD and kicked the crap out of anything they were offering for a long time...
Kinda seems like Core 2 hitting the market and at 65nm way before AMD and kicking the crap out of anything they were offering.

I'm not sure how informed this opinion is but it seems like AMD and ATI haven't been the same companies since the acquisition and that saddens me as I always loved their products, however with my recent hardware upgrades (Late April/Early May) I just had to go Nvida/Intel

Record revenue, record shipments, record margin. Slightly exceeding analyst expectations.

...and the next day, the stock drops 6%. It's awfully hard to understand the market sometimes.

I hope AMD [ATI] takes note and make good cards unless they want to continue their downward streak.

It looks to me like the margin is falling. Anyone got anything more definitive about the margin?

Otherwise, go Apple.
