CPU fan revving when idle

Postposted on Tue Nov 03, 2009 9:35 pm

I can hear my CPU fan revving up when my computer is idle and I can also see the rpm's quadruple using Intel Desktop Utilities program, which monitors temps and fan speeds. However, when I am playing games or watching movies or doing things that I would assume use the processor more than idling does the fan doesn't speed up at all, in fact the temperature reading on the CPU drops. Playing games it's around 45 celcius, and idling it's at 59 celcius.

I don't get it, can anyone explain?

you can try reinstalling or updating the BIOS.or if the MOBO has a software that monitors the temps, try reinstalling it

when you play games your GPU fan blows
clean out the computer with compressed air
probably nothing is wrong with your computer, but fan could be just noisy. you could replace it they are like 6$
