After building up the suspense throughout last week with mysterious teasers, Blizzard Entertainment pulled the curtain on Diablo III this past weekend. As Shacknews reports, the third iteration in the Diablo series will introduce fancy 3D graphics, new and revamped character classes, an improved control system, gameplay tweaks, and (judging by the gameplay videos) even more frantic mouse clicking.
You can find out more about the first full Diablo game since June 2000 on the official Blizzard site, which includes screenshots, trailers, gameplay videos, and miscellaneous tidbits. Shacknews also has much of the same media content handily linked on one page, and it hosts a 19-minute, high-definition gameplay video with developer commentary over on FileShack.
Those dying to get their hands on the game will have to bide their time, though. In the official FAQ page, Blizzard says it hasn't yet settled on a release date for Diablo III, and explains, "As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players." Blizzard has already decided to ship the game on both Windows and Mac OS simultaneously, however.
