If you picked up a Radeon HD 4850 following its surprise launch last week, you may want to grab AMD's latest graphics driver hotfix. The hotfix applies to both the 4850 and the unreleased Radeon HD 4870, and AMD says it "improves overall performance and stability," although the firm doesn't provide any specifics.
AMD goes on to say the hotfix includes graphics driver and Catalyst Control Center components, so folks presumably won't need to install this on top of the Catalyst 8.6 drivers that came out a couple of days before.
You can grab the hotfix directly from AMD's Customer Care page for Vista and XP in both x86 and x64 flavors. Be sure to check out our first look for more information about the Radeon HD 4850 (and benchmarks), too.
