B3-step CPUs are just fine, says AMD

Yesterday brought several online reports about problems with the new B3 stepping of AMD's quad-core processors. B3 is the new revision of the chip intended to correct the infamous TLB erratum. The rumors claimed AMD was having trouble with bugs in B3 and would have to do yet another spin of the silicon. If true, this news would be very bad indeed for a company that's already had more than its share of bad luck recently. But an AMD spokesman contacted us preemptively about the rumor with this statement:

Before you even ask… this is simply not true. B3 does fix the errata. End of story.

And thus, we hope, this story will soon end.
